Please review the below policies/suggestions so you know what to expect during inclement weather and illness.
Weather
What happens if the weather ends up not cooperating on my session date?
Depending on the type of weather, we may need to reschedule your session. If this happens, I’ll send you a link to my calendar so you can look at the time slots available and pick what works best for you.
I almost always reschedule to avoid:
- Rain storms & snow storms (rule of thumb, if it’s raining or snowing sideways, I’m calling it. ha!)
- Heavy rain
- Wind (15-20 mph winds and up are where it starts to be too much for a nice session – hair becomes uncontrollable, eyes water, we can’t hear each other well… it’s just best if we reschedule when this happens).
- Extreme hot & extreme cold… it’s not safe, especially if you have young children, and extreme temperatures have made my camera gear stop functioning altogether in the past so it’s best to just reschedule for another date when it’s more enjoyable to be out there.
Something to keep in mind: some weather that might not seem ideal at first glance can actually result in the BEST photos!
For example: a light drizzle, foggy morning, or a snowfall can be SO fun and magical if we’re lucky enough to be able to do it safely! Some snowfalls are beautiful for photography sessions while others can look too chaotic. If it’s the right kind of snow, fog, or drizzle for a photography session to still take place, then I’ll take into consideration the safety of everyone driving in such conditions and ultimately both parties (you the client and I the photographer) will need to agree/be comfortable with traveling to meet for the session.
Illness
What happens if my little one isn’t feeling well the day of the session?
If you or any members participating in your session are sick, please notify me so we can reschedule. I regularly photograph newborns so it’s important that I remain healthy to keep them safe. I also have children of my own and will take any invitation I can get to keep them free from sore throats and stuffy noses… and hopefully therefore sleeping through the night (ha!).
Also worth noting: your little one’s runny/stuffy nose will show up in the photos and their eyes are often a little puffier and red when their sinuses are under so much pressure, so even if they are no longer contagious you might be happier with the final images if you move your session by a few days so they have a chance to be feeling their best during the session.
COVID-19 precautions I’m taking to keep you safe:
- I am up to date on the COVID-19 vaccine and boosters.
- I will use hand sanitizer prior to your session.
- I am skipping the handshake.
- I will self-assess for any COVID-19 and other cold-like symptoms on the day of your session.
