Iowa City Holiday Minis for December 2021 – in partnership with 223 Baby Co!
After receiving such an enormous response to the Holiday Mini Photography Sessions I offered in November, I decided to do one more round! But with these sessions slated to happen on the second weekend of December, I knew I needed to offer an indoor option to avoid the icy wind and red noses that I was already starting to see in my November sessions. I don’t have a studio space of my own (yet!) so this ended up creating the perfect opportunity to partner with another local business!
223 Baby Co, located in Downtown Iowa City, opened at the beginning of October and has a beautiful bright/airy space with the sweetest items for babies and young children. So on the evening of December 4th and the morning of December 5th, I’m offering Holiday Mini Photography Sessions at 223 Baby Co in Downtown Iowa City!
Every year, we take our kids to the Christmas tree farm to pick out a tree – not because we’re really picky about what tree goes in our living room, but because we all love the experience that surrounds it. Listening to my silly Christmas songs playlist on the drive, walking around the little holiday village, listening to more Christmas music, grabbing a hot cocoa, riding the kiddie train, and receiving a cookie and candy cane on our way to the car… it’s all such a special experience to us. These little details add up to make a sentimental experience out of something that honestly, if stripped down to its core, actually sounds quite miserable… you want me to drive a long way down gravel roads, carry fussy kids up and down steep hills, sweat in my 15 layers of fleece and puffer jackets while manually sawing a 5+ year old tree down, and then carry said tree back over those steep hills so I can pay a substantial amount of money for it and get sap stains on my car?… no thanks. But wait, you’re going to add some cookies and festive music? Okay yea, count me in and we’ll call it one of the most nostalgic experiences of the year!
The same goes for family photography… a lot of people dread it and I want to change that. Family photography should be fun – because you’re all together which in and of itself is something special. But also because when you’re all having fun, that’s when the most genuine expressions, and therefore best photos, happen. Those rosy feelings I have about going to the tree farm with my family for our annual Christmas tree? That’s the experience I’ve created for my Holiday Mini Photography Sessions. I’ve gone all out and turned these December minis into a photographer’s Christmas party – Christmas music, family-friendly hot drinks & cookie bar, 10% off day-of holiday shopping at 223 Baby Co, a private outside-of-regular-store-hours-shopping-experience, and 40% off holiday card prints through my print shop.
