Photography Outfit Inspiration: Subtle Plaid for Holiday Family Portraits
The aim of this mood board was to create a collection that I would want to put my own family in for our annual Christmas photos. I always love seasonal prints like plaid and pops of red to help Christmas cards looks super coordinated and thoughtful (perk: I don’t think plaid has ever dated itself… it apparently originated in the 1700s!). I didn’t go all out with a hot red dress for mom and buffalo check for the kids here though because I wanted the resulting photos from this session to be more versatile. I kept the overall tones neutral so the images from this photo session will be plenty Christmas-y when adorned on a card but when framed and hung on a wall at home, the images will fit not matter what season it is.
If you aren’t worried about stretching your photos well beyond the holiday season and would rather go all out with holiday flare, then this still serves as a great foundation. To make it even more festive from here, you can have dad wear a solid red scarf, and put the kids in cute red knit hats.
